Laguna Beach Rachael Ashley May 29, 2026
One of the things I love most about living and working in South Orange County is that every coastal town has its own personality.
Dana Point feels laid back and surf-focused. Newport Beach feels energetic and polished. But Laguna Beach? Laguna Beach feels like a place where people intentionally slow down and enjoy life.
As a real estate agent, I spend a lot of time in Laguna Beach meeting clients, previewing homes, grabbing coffee between appointments, and simply enjoying everything the city has to offer. Whenever clients ask me what it's actually like to live in Laguna Beach, I usually tell them this:
Imagine spending an ordinary Tuesday feeling like you're on vacation.
If I'm spending the day in Laguna Beach, it usually starts with coffee and an ocean view.
One of the best things about Laguna Beach is how integrated the coastline is into daily life. The beach isn't somewhere you drive to for a special occasion—it's simply part of the community.
You can grab a coffee downtown, walk a few minutes, and find yourself looking out over the Pacific Ocean before most people have even started their workday.
The sound of waves, the ocean breeze, and the slower pace immediately set a different tone for the day.
After coffee, I'll often walk through downtown Laguna Beach.
The streets are lined with local boutiques, art galleries, coffee shops, and restaurants. Unlike many coastal towns that feel commercialized, Laguna has managed to maintain much of its artistic character.
You see local artists displaying work, visitors exploring galleries, and residents walking to lunch rather than rushing from place to place.
That's one of the things that stands out most about Laguna Beach: it feels connected.
People are outside. They're walking. They're talking. They're enjoying where they live.
No day in Laguna Beach feels complete without spending some time by the water.
Whether it's a quick walk along the shoreline, sitting on a bench overlooking the water, or simply taking a few minutes between appointments, the ocean is never far away.
Some of my favorite spots include:
Each offers a completely different experience, which is part of what makes Laguna Beach so special.
One thing Laguna Beach does exceptionally well is outdoor dining.
It's hard to beat sitting on a patio overlooking the ocean while enjoying lunch with friends, clients, or family.
Many restaurants take full advantage of the city's incredible coastline, offering views that remind you why Laguna Beach consistently ranks among the most desirable coastal communities in California.
And honestly, even after years of visiting Laguna Beach, those views never get old.
One of the reasons people fall in love with Laguna Beach is that there is always something to do without it feeling busy.
You can spend an afternoon:
Laguna Beach manages to blend luxury living with outdoor recreation in a way that very few places can.
It's equally appealing to someone looking for a multimillion-dollar oceanfront estate and someone who simply wants to spend the afternoon exploring tide pools.
If there's one moment that captures Laguna Beach perfectly, it's sunset.
As the day winds down, people gather along the bluffs, beaches, and parks to watch the sun disappear into the Pacific.
The sky changes colors, the ocean reflects the light, and everything seems to slow down for a few minutes.
I've shown homes throughout Orange County for years, and there are still sunsets in Laguna Beach that stop me in my tracks.
They're that good.
When clients ask me why people are willing to invest so much to live in Laguna Beach, the answer isn't just the homes.
It's the lifestyle.
It's waking up near the ocean.
It's being able to walk to the beach.
It's spending weekends hiking, surfing, dining outdoors, or exploring local art galleries.
It's the feeling that you're living somewhere truly unique.
Laguna Beach isn't simply a place to own real estate. It's a place that becomes part of your daily routine, your lifestyle, and your identity.
Whenever I spend a full day in Laguna Beach, I'm reminded why it remains one of the most sought-after coastal communities in Southern California.
The natural beauty, artistic culture, outdoor lifestyle, and small-town charm create an experience that is difficult to replicate anywhere else.
For many people, Laguna Beach feels like a vacation destination.
For those lucky enough to live there, it's simply another beautiful day at home.
